Qualifications
FDI/CDE
TTC is an ISTD Approved Dance Centre, allowing us to enter students for the new ISTD dance teaching qualifications entitled Foundation in Dance Instruction (FDI) and Certificate in Dance Education (CDE).
The FDI is aimed at candidates of 17years+ who have gained ISTD examinations up to intermediate level and who wish to prepare for the CDE to become teachers of dance. The FDI is accredited at Level 3 in the National Qualifications Framework, which is equivalent to an A level.
The CDE is aimed at candidates of 18 years+ who have gained the FDI in the chosen genres and the Advanced 1 examination in the dance genre, who wish to become fully qualified dance teachers able to submit candidates for ISTD examinations. The CDE is submitted at Level 4 in the National Qualifications Framework equivalent to the first year degree level. The FDI and CDE are broken into several units which are undertaken at TTC. The ISTD books and candidate portfolio are obtainable from TTC reception.
Classes for teaching qualifications are included in the weekly timetable, but are optional and subject to demand. Children's classes are run throughout the evening at our studios, and at no extra cost the students entering for the FDI/ CDE are encouraged to stay to watch and assist alongside our qualified children's staff. This helps the student become knowledgeable of the syllabi, with teaching children first hand and also cover the first unit of FDI.
Fees for exams, books, candidate portfolio and the ADC supplement are all required for students taking the qualifications, and a price plan is available at reception.
BTEC
The BTEC National Qualifications are integrated into the courses at TTC. Although not compulsory for 18years+ or for students who have previously taken a BTEC or a similar course, it is advised that all other students take a BTEC and are expected to leave TTC with a nationally recognised qualification.
